Program^
Coming soon
International Keynote Speaker: Johanna Drucker^
Prof Johanna Drucker will give a presentation entitled, "Graphic Rhetoric: The shape of argument in digital environments."
Since the initial invention of the graphical user interface, we have witnessed the emergence of conventions for digital document production and display. To what extent are these conventions distinct from those of analogue documents in how they structure an argument? What features of computational processing—arrays, nesting, iteration, topic modeling, and other structuring principles–might be integrated into the graphical rhetoric of networked documents? Where is the practical line between customizable structures and preservable standards when the design of arguments depends on a living ecology of online materials?
Fee^
We don't know yet if we will have a registration fee as the grant applications are in progress. If fees are necessary they will not exceed 100 €.

Theme: Document Design and Co-Design^
Document Design and Co-Design: From Participation to Preservation
For document theory, all content that is recorded or transcribed to facilitate memory and coordination falls under the documentary order. In the digital world, new forms of documentality are enabling new possibilities, from human–AI collaborative writing to online communities that evaluate heritage and artistic archives.
The digitalization of documentary creation and dissemination, as well as the proliferation of digital humanities 2.0, have highlighted the importance of design and the involvement of all stakeholders in the design process.
This edition of DOCAM is open to all reflections related to the place of design and the collaborative design of documentary environments in fields as varied as science, literature, socio-digital networks, engineering, services and industry... The activities under investigation may range from the early creative phases to the later engineering phases, as well as documentation of the design process.
Ideas might include:
- Design of monographs and journals in different media
- Design of citizen documentary platforms (from yellow vests to consensus conferences)
- Design of participatory cartographies
- Design and creative research on social networks
- Design of documents for controversies
- Semiotics for the design of contents, media and situations
- Role of algorithms in the dissemination of textual and audio-visual documentary content
- Design of audio, video, radio, streaming platforms, etc.
- Design of transmedia devices
- Design of archiving environments
- Design thinking documentation
- Design of documentary environments for collective action: communities, networks, organization
- Design of documentary environments for the knowledge commons
- Design of documentary environments for digital humanities
- Automatic document design using models
- Design of platforms for the redocumentarization of archival collections for scientific, heritage or public purposes
- Design of audiovisual archive enhancement systems
- Design of data-visualization algorithms for the genetics of works
